Obituary for Cynthia "Cindy" B. Smuda (Kelly)

Cynthia "Cindy" B. Smuda (Kelly)
Cynthia B. (Kelly) Smuda, cherished wife and best friend of Robert (Bob) Smuda, entered into eternal rest on Saturday June 10, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Born August 25, 1954, she was the beloved middle daughter of Catherine “Kay” Kelly of Sebring, FL and the late Edward C. Kelly (1996).
In addition to Bob and her mother, Cindy is survived by her beloved sons, Michael of Middletown, CT and Brian of Enfield, CT. she also leaves behind her dear sister retired Major USAF Sharon Kelly of East Windsor, CT who has been a source of comfort and support and her sister Cory Gervascio of Amston, CT; her loving sisters-in-law Joanne Lowney (John) of Columbia, CT and Jane Vaughn (Rick) of Branford, CT and several nieces and nephews.
Although Cindy held several positions outside her home, her favorite role and title was simply “Mom”. She loved her boys; from baseball games to marching band performances. She was so proud of the men they have become.
Cindy enjoyed volunteering in community and church ministries, scrapbooking, knitting, UConn basketball, Cross-Fit and getting together with treasured friends.
As empty nesters, Cindy and Bob enjoyed their time together; day trips, lunch at Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tales, walks along the beach, weekends at the Cape but mostly, just being together in the cozy comfort of their home.
Their faith in God along with the love and support of family and friends, including their Church family at First Baptist Church, East Longmeadow MA, comforted them through this difficult journey. They thank everyone for their prayers and kindness, including the staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital and the Phase I Clinic.
Cindy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday June 17, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service with Pastor David Brown officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. It brought Cindy great comfort to know she would be buried next to her beloved parents in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to First Baptist Church, 50 Parker St. East Longmeadow, MA 01028 or Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice, 1290 Silas Deane Highway Suite 4B Wethersfield, CT 06109 in her memory.
